In 2025, 10 years after engaging our agency to create HGGC’s website, the firm partnered with FINE to evolve the digital experience to reflect its new brand strategy, positioning HGGC as approachable, relationship-driven private equity.
A Warm, Welcoming West Coast Presence
While the firm has garnered attention for its co-founder, NFL legend Steve Young, it’s the sum of all its individual relationships that has made the firm successful. With a streamlined approach to content and simple navigational flow, the site’s existing structure paired with an identity refresh to create space for a warmer, more welcoming expression. A refined wordmark, lightened color palette, and balanced typography bring an airy, open, and modern feel that aligns with the firm’s West Coast sensibility.
Authenticity in Every Frame
Photography became a core driver of the experience transformation. Partnering with longtime collaborator Winni Wintermeyer, FINE led a full reshoot that embraced natural light, candid groupings, in-situ backdrops, and un-staged compositions to bring the faces of HGGC forward with authenticity. The resulting image library harmonizes with identity updates, emphasizing the firm’s empowering, relational ethos.

HGGC’s story of catalyzing support and connection comes alive across pages. Quick-hit stats and scannable messaging on the Firm page give busy CEOs and management teams an immediate read on HGGC’s scale, focus, and performance. From portrait-style headshots on the Team page to group shots throughout the site, consistent, human-centered photography fosters an immediate sense of connection. And the Portfolio puts partner companies and their stories front and center, supported by imagery that reflects each business’s sector and impact.

Optimized across screens, the front-end experience is responsive and refined, exuding credibility for the Silicon Valley firm. Working within the site’s existing infrastructure, FINE updated integrations and modernized components while retaining the custom Content Management System that enables HGGC to easily manage content across the site. These behind-the-scenes improvements maintain technical sophistication while allowing the new brand personality—human, clear, accessible—to remain front and center.
