The Digital PM Summit is the first and only conference targeted specifically to Interactive Project Managers. It's a role FINE PMs have filled for years. Last week in Philadelphia, a few of us finally had the chance to gather with 150 like-minded folks to share thoughts, processes, pain points, and celebrations.

The two-day conference featured top-notch speakers, including an informative presentation by Sam Barnes, who worked in the digital branding industry and now is on the client side. Sam's presentation, "Vice Versa Client Management," shared helpful insights about "what it's like being on the other side." Check out the slide deck here.

One of the more validating takeaways for the FINE team is the simple knowledge that there are plenty of other project managers who share the same challenges, not to mention similar personality traits. "It feels great to be surrounded by so many control freaks like myself," was a favorite quote overheard at the conference by FINE's Stephanie Muse.

The conference offered lots of reminders of general "back to basics" practices of project management. It was reassuring to discover that a longstanding commitment to an established process is something relatively unique among digital agencies, where rapid change often muddies the management waters.

If you missed this year's conference, join us in following the conference hashtag - #dpm2013 - and reading the blog.

“We're looking forward to watching this community evolve and participating as a digital agency to help get this community off the ground,” says our own Lori Dunkin. "We'll plan to attend next year, and may well share our approach in a presentation or worksession as well."
