King Estate Website

King Estate holds court as one of Oregon’s largest wineries and the country's largest producer of Pinot Gris. The expansive estate in Eugene, Oregon boasts much more than King’s signature Pinot; it includes 1,033 organic acres of hand-grown grapes, orchards, gardens, lavender, and wetlands.

A Story In Words + Pictures

The concept features imagery-driven modules that narrate users - both visually and with careful copy - through the story of Oregon as a winemaking region, and the story of a grand family estate known for generations of sustainable stewardship of the land.

Mobile Inspiration

The fully responsive site renders across the full spectrum of digital devices. The exhaustively planned design and content welcomes users with simple way-finding and approachability, down to custom e-commerce that enables easy shopping wherever the inspiration finds you.

Here's To Sustainability

King Estate is 100% sustainably farmed, stocked with vegetables, fruits, flowers, bees, lavenders, wetlands and a compost pile the size of an airplane hangar. Their farms supply the estate restaurant, and surplus provides for local schools. A friendly, elegant searchable database of signature recipes brings the King approach to the fore.

A Detailed Development

On the technology side, details ruled. The text style called for new ways of applying textures over type using CSS. Delivery included a four-page style guide just for site typography - a hint to the sophistication of the responsive templates. A Test Driven Development methodology (backed by RSPEC Gem and 250 tests) was used for many of the more complex features and make the site more durable and timeless.

Working with FINE has been better than fine. Many agencies are big on the promises. Few are big on delivery. It is the latter for FINE.
